ARP 386 Evaluating Anxiety Herbal Supplements

I've done episodes about dietary supplements. I didn't take into account the ones sold at the gas station or corner store. People with an anxiety condition or disorder should be very careful about promises of herbal supplements treatment.

I don't want to be elitist here. There is bad stuff in U.S. pharmacies that do not work, known not to be effective or dangerous and yet still on sale. I have examples from Ethan Melillo. PharmD and Grant Harding, PharmD.

It is one thing to buy Slim-Jims from the gas station. I've bought water, two cans for three dollars then I get to the counter where the person looks at me like I'm less than dirt as he rings me up. Then I remember not to go back into that store for the next eight months or so.

I would never, ever purchase an herbal supplement from the gas station store, a convenience store or the 99 Cents or 150 Cents Store-ish variations.

You might decide otherwise. If you do want to risk it, pack a magnifying glass because you have to read the label. What is the dosage? It might not be the full bottle.

And most important, have the contents been verified by an independent industry respected testing organization?

We need to be careful out in the wild. Just my two cents. This is my opinion which ain't worth a bucket of salt. Which does not stop me from this episode on how to evaluate herbal health supplements.

ARP 340 Cannabis and Cruising Do Not Mix

I don't know if I'll ever go on a cruise ship. The only part that really interest me is tasting a wide variety of food in a short amount of time.

Plus my anxiety about riding on a human petri dish would get the best of me and cause all kinds of embarrassment. Not to mention that there are hundreds of people around and having to move as a pack once you arrive for an excursion.

Gives me the shivers. Anyway, there is a recent news story about a person kicked off a ship because of CBD Gummies.

Those of an anxious nature need to know that you cannot travel on cruse ships that have a U.S. port with any form of marijuana or medicinal products derived from that substance.

Under U.S. federal law, it is still illegal. And federal law supersede your local state law.

You can be fined.
You can be arrested.
Or worse, lose all that money you paid to cruise in the first place.

And that is just in a U.S. port. Don't even think about doing it oversees.

In this episode a heads up about not bring cannabis products on the ship.

ARP Pebble in the Road - One More Thing About CBD Oil

Trying to finish up on my science literacy class. It is a pip. It is very good and provides a lot information about how scientists evaluate questions and data.

It is thumping my poor brain with all kinds of concepts. Once I finish the class, I should be back on a regular schedule.
Going through my stuff and seeing if I forgot anything. Seems like I did forget a thing or two.

I might have included this in an episode but just in case, I want to make sure that you know about buying CBD oil on Amazon.com.

If you have been following the mini series about hemp seed oil and CBD oil you know:

The sale of hemp products with less than 0.3 THC or any psychoactive properties is permitted in the U.S. on the federal level.

However, depending on where you live in the United States, hemp products can either legal conditionally legal or totally illegal to purchase depending on the state or territory you happen to live in.

Fifty states, the District of Columbia and the territories. All with different laws , regulations and Attorney Generals.

Not to mention interstate commerce rules and the TSA at the airports.

And then there is American version of Amazon.com. The site really wants to help you find what you want.

Amazon site does not want to disappoint you. Neither do the flim flam artists who will make it seem that there product does what you hope it would do but it does not.

This is a quick episode on why you can't buy CBD oil with 0.3% TCH via the U.S. version of Amazon.com.  It isn't complicated.

Episode 040 Emotional Regulation and Part Two of Herbal Supplements

There is a very good article that I mention in the podcast from Psychology Today by Tom Bunn - if there is a possibility of childhood trauma as one of the sources of your anxiety or panic condition I would suggest you check it out.

This episode is part two of botanicals and herbal supplements; it is an introduction to the topic with links to U.S. governmental type resources and a Canadian one. One is simplified and the other gives the details and possible side effects.
